Ardath Templer: The Saab Gripen is the market leader because it fits that bill. The US stuff costs too much & has political strings with Congressional approvals. The Russians, make good stuff but can be costly as well. Gripen is in operational service with the Swedish, Czech Republic, Hungarian and South African Air Forces and has also been ordered by the Royal Thai Air Force. The UK Empire Test Pilotsâ School (ETPS) is also operating Gripen as its advanced fast jet platform for test pilots worldwide. Switzerland, India, & Brazil are looking to buy right now....Show more
Venetta Coulbourne: Most Advanced-F-22Most Cost Effective-Russian T-50 fighter."The T-50 is Russia and India's first FGA. Russian manufacturer Sukhoi is experienced and one of the world's most respected aerospace manufacturers. Even though it will be fielded years after the F-22 is deployed, the T-50 is a lethal foe. Rather than focus on agility and stealth, more attention was put towards size and! strength. This allows the T-50 to travel far, and carry many missiles. Russia's Air Force has solid AWACS and refueling units to provide fairly adequate support. These aspects combined with the low price make the T-50 a powerful FGA."...Show more
Roselee Mczeal: I'd have to go with the Block 52+ variants of the F-16, The Saab Gripen and the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. All three can hold their own in a dog fight while also being able to drop ordinance accurately. I believe the F-16 has won many bombing competitions around the world in different excercises.
Ninfa Asby: Obviously being biased, I think that the F-18 Hornet and Superhornet are an excellent blend of missions, cost and reliability. The Navy has worked the bugs out of them and they are sturdy planes. There's a lot to be said for "strength in numbers".The last two words in your sentence should be "en mass".
Logan Bero: The F16 is very popular world wide. It's very versatile and reliable. It's been aro! und for decades with a proven fighter record. Next would be th! e F15 and F18.
Elaina Adolfson: That depends on what you want in a combat aircraft now doesn't it. It is a bit like asking what the best car is. Well, best car for whom? What is best for me may not be best for you because we don't want the same features in car. Weapon systems are no different.
Leif Andreason: i guess the term "cost effective" used with fighter aircraft is not proper.stick to "biggest bang for your bucks"considering today's situation in aviation industry, there are no readily accessible fighter planes to get "off the shelf".getting some second hand aircraft may be an "cost effective solution" for a LOCAL air power.bottomline> our country is just negotiating the sale of 36 subsonic strike aircraft, with avionics comparable to the F-16. as the situation goes, they are sold for a bargain, so they will definitely be a cost effective solution for their second user.. our military bought them because of political decision and never operated them. th! eir original cost was nearing the supersonic fighter; today, they will compete at prices of a BAe Hawk, because they essentially are a beefed up L39....Show more
