Is radio a mixture of noise/sound and radio magnetic waves?

Dannie Briseno: the radio waves are all around you, when you turn your radio on, you tune it to that radio frequency. The radio transforms the radio signal into an electric signal. This electric signal is then amplified as required for level of noise. The speakers transfer the electric signal to sound. (Very basic explanation)

Chris Rosenkranz: Sure......... all around us are electromagnetic waves.... they come from the sun, and they bounce around us all day long.Radio broadcast is just a way that scientists figured out how to use this electro-magnetic spectrum to communicate with a box in your house.......... a radio. Pretty neat, hu?Some guy downtown speaks into a microphone......... it creates a disturbance in the spectrum. Then this is "amplified" - MORE electricity is added to it - a LOT of electricity. Then that massive amount of electricity and disturbance (voice) is pumped up to the top of a radio tower........ and it spills out into the surrounding ar! ea - and into your radio box at your house. Your radio box then decodes all this electrical energy..... and out comes that guy's voice. It's sort of like magic - only better....Show more
