Ronald Moehr: -A vegetarian who eats plant products only, especially one who uses no products derived from animals, as fur or leatherso they eat vegetables,fruits,grains,pastas,nuts,crakers,bread..As with any diet, a vegan diet requires planning. However, when properly planned, a vegan diet can be considerably healthier than the traditional American diet....Show more
Erin Arron: I am currently vegetarian, but have decided to give vegan a try. I was just wondering, what kind of substitutes are there for diary products? I mean, I drink silk soy milk over regular milk, and I use earth balance butter over real butter, but are there any substitutes for cheese? And what should I look for on the package of foods to see if they have any animal products in them? Thanks :)
Spencer Heidtbrink: Lol. all of it sounds great yet i'm going to compliment Menu one. in my opinion you won't be able to overcome a intense high quality rich tea biscuit crust, which rather compli! ments the turkey, and the Maltesers in blankets sound divine. i'm salivating questioning approximately it. in case you have left overs i'm going to be around later. Merry Christmas to you and happy eating.
Flor Lizardi: The term vegan was created to define a lifestyle that sets itself apart from the word vegetarian. Vegan in the true sense of the word means a person that does not eat any product made from animals and does not eat any product produced from animals. It also means that vegans do not use products made from animals in the way of clothing or shoes. Vegans true to the meaning of the word also feel that animals used for entertainment is wrong. Vegetarians that eat like a vegan but still wear leather and/or other animal products such as wool are more correctly called transitioning to veganism. The diet of a vegan consists of everything except meat, milk, egg, honey and any other product obtained directly or indirectly from an animal. This leaves many grain! s, beans, vegetables, nuts, seeds and fruit that can be eaten ! and enjoyed. Some vegans feel that they are morally superior to those that are still meat-eating and sometimes even to those that are vegetarian. The ethical views and opinions that they have are very strong. They try to do as much good and as little harm as possible. They are eating with a purpose, not just to loose weight but to help get the world in a better, more compassionate state. As it has been said "If you say you love animals but still eat meat (or in the case of vegetarianism- drink milk) - you're lying". The same thought is often applied to the environmental view. How can we say we care about the planet and keep doing the stuff that is killing it? It can be said of this type of vegan - "give me one vegan that has passion instead of 10 vegetarians that want to loose weight - and I'll change the world".The types of food that are being left out of a vegan diet (meat, milk, eggs) have been shown to contribute to heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, cance! r, impotence, arthritis and many more diseases. You will not be ingesting a high level of fat and cholesterol. A lot of people think that eating a vegan diet is extreme. They think that we are leaving out an important food group. But there is not a food group called "meat". It is a food group called protein and a vegan diet gets its protein from many sources. The dairy food group is a misnomer. It is calcium that this group signifies. Veganism has this covered also. One of the highest sources of calcium is a tablespoon of raw seaseme seeds. All in all, the vegan diet is very logical and practical one....Show more

Colby Millberg: A little know-it-all peon ! who hates meat and has a bugged-eyed, constipated looking little avatar! to tell us how evil we are for eating it.
Carmina Stickney: Wow that's awesome that you want to become a vegan. I'm a vegetarian too. I also drink silk soy milk and i either have earth balance or smart balance for butter. Yes there are substitutes for cheese but I don't know the brand names. I know that Wegmans carries it. Good luck on becoming a vegan!
Giovanna Sherlin: Im just wonder if the cheese at Subway is okay for a vegetarian who eats dairy. They have 3 different kinds of cheese there..so i hope at least one of them is okay..I know Pizza Pizzas mozzarella cheese do NOT have rennet, they advertise that a lot of their products are vegetarian friendly. so i hope subway is too!
Sheron Perrez: You don't eat ANY animal products or byproducts. You can't eat cow, piggies, chicken, fish, hamster, NO MEAT, but you also can't eat eggs, milk, butter, or again any byproducts. You also can't wear leather, wool, down feather comforters, makeup products with! byproducts (i.e. burt's bees... no honey or beeswa also). Vegan diets CAN be healthier, if you do it the right way, eating a lot of whole grains, veggies ⥠and fruit, protein (from tofu, beans, fake meat). But that said, oreo's are vegan lol....Show more

Ismael Sixon: That sounds super-healthy and delish. I'm studying for a big exam, so I had a scrambled egg and Heinz baked beans! Followed by a Creamsicle for desert. Creative diet on the wayside during exams!
Frederic Engellant: Vegans wouldn't use eggs, so they wouldn't color them. Don't worry about the leather in someone else's car. That's just silly. The leather is in the car. Whether your butt touches it or not makes no difference. There are things you cannot avoid, and other materials in the car have been made of animal materials. Vegans take animals and animal products out of their diets, and do what is practical and possible to not consume ani! mal products elsewhere. Easter eggs are symbols of rebirth, and you cou! ld paint artificial eggs from a craft store if it's a tradition you want to continue without the eggs from chickens. You can find wooden eggs, ceramic eggs, etc. and be more creative with those than just plopping an egg into a cup of dye.
Edmund Rappley: I want to say that being vegan really can mean different things. You may be vegan because you care more about animal cruelty. You may be vegan because you don't want to or can't eat meat because of the additives, steroids and things in it that we don't always know and perhaps should not consume. And then you can be both. I, myself, am vegan because I don't want to eat meat and animal products because there are a lot of additives and it makes me sick. Lactose intolerant, etc. I don't like to see or hear the animal cruelty, but most of that happens because us humans consume so much meat on earth. If we didn't consume as much meat, most of those inhuman things wouldn't happen (or maybe they still would). My point is I kn! ow that there are others out there like me.So the definition of vegan can vary. I hate it when I tell people that I am vegan and they instantly assume I hate animal cruelty. I don't agree with it, but I don't judge others because they eat meat. I just cant/choose not to because my body hates me for it after I eat dairy products and animal products....Show more

Alise Rutgers: a vegetarian who omits all animal products from the diet.
Jacques Vaquera: Try Teese cheese. It's vegan.
Javier Holsonback: Vegans are white hippies that abstain themselves from eating animals and animal related products such as cheese and eggs. They need supplements to be healthy due to the unnatural staple diet (even though we are herbivores). The only meat they can put in their mouth is a c o c k.
Marcelina Schossow: My ex was lactose intolerant and couldn't eat cheese, therefore I was not allow! ed to eat cheese. If you like real cheese, you will never find these su! bstitutes satisfactory. They all taste grainy, oily, or just don't taste like anything.Every food product has an "ingredients" list on the back under the nutritional information. However, most truly vegan products are labeled as such so that you buy them.
Otto Lingafelt: I had salad from my garden, too! Also, kidney bean chili and rice in a spinach tortilla.
Donovan Stallons: Not eating animals or animal any products. Caring about your health and the environment. :)
Long Woltjer: No its not..the Muslim race eats fish because the blood of the animal is not sacred. Its in evolution. However they will denote eating anything from a calf because it is known to be a sacred animal. Just look at the way they avoid alcohol. Its a cleanser but it replaces blood in the blood stream so it can be an intoxicant as well. I don't eat from subway because its on muslimconsumergroup.com's website as Haram, therefore as a lacto-vegetarian I will avoid it.
Isreal Koc! hheiser: Vegan do not eat any meats or things the come from animals.Such as any dairy products (eggs and milk). Also they will not eat things like starburst because there is something from cows in them.Vegetarians will still eat milk, eggs, etc....
Eliseo Luma: Sub cheese like those at Subway, Mr Sub, Mikes and your corner sub shop are mostly processed, being that they take a type of cheese and mix in milk, binders and solidifiers, cheddar or mozzarella, swiss is not it is a pure cheese, rennet is not used as much now a days more bacterial cultures like those in yougarts.I would say it is not anymore likely to be non vegetarian friendly than the processed slices from Kraft or the Generic ones at the grocery stores....Show more
Lionel Tanen: Hi. You make a great choice! Yes, there are vegan cheeses about, I'm not sure of the names of the brands, but you can look for them. I live in the UK, not USA but it sounds like you live in the USA because you said you eat Ea! rth Balance butter and that's an American thing. Some foods may have la! ctose in them, which isn't suitable for vegans. If it says "may contain traces of milk" then it's up to you whether you avoid it or not, but it doesn't actually have milk in it, it's just put there for people for allergies. Some fake meats have milk and/or egg in them, so you'll need to check labels. Gelatin is crushed-up animal bones, but being vegetarian, you probably already know about gelatin. Some breads aren't vegan so again, check labels. You do know that vegan is a whole lifestyle, not just a diet like vegetarianism, right? Check cosmetics, since some cosmetics in America are still tested on animals (don't ask me which ones). But if it says "not tested on animals" and it doesn't have any animal-derived ingredients (like lactose or honey) then you can buy it. If you still have real leather shoes or leather clothing that you bought before wanting to go vegan, then keep them until they wear out but don't buy anything else leather. Hope this helped....Show more

Brenton Cornwall: Vegans do not eat or use anything that comes from animals. This includes consuming meat, eggs, milk, honey, and gelatin, which is made from animal skin and bones. They also extend this into areas outside out diet. Vegans don't wear leather, wool, or silk, don't use products such as beeswax lip balm, and avoid products that are tested on animals. A plant-based diet can be healthy, as it is high in fiber and many other vitamins and minerals. However, one could eat only potato chips and drink only beer and still be a vegan, and that certainly wouldn't be healthy. It's all about having! a balanced diet, which is certainly possible for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike....Show more
Dexter Gold: An ethical vegan is someone who doesn't eat meat-including birds-, dairy, honey, eggs, fish, gelatin or any other animal product. Keven Drumgole: vegans don't eat or use or wear anything to do with an animal.e.g. animal tested make up, fur, eggs, milk, honey
Ollie Desalvo: A vegan diet is normally healthier, although it is possible to just eat a bunch of junk while being a vegan. It is inherently cholesterol-free and has much less saturated fat. You tend to get more fiber in your diet as well. A vegan diet has been atributed to helping reverse heart disease. You can find more information on the health benefits of veganism at http://www.! PCRM.org (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine)A vegan doesn't! eat, wear, or use any animal products. A vegan avoids meat, dairy, eggs, and all sorts of by-products that come from animals. They do not wear leather, wool, silk, or fur. Vegans also avoid products tested on animals, or containing animal based ingredients.
