conditioning bettas for breeding?

Gabriel Realmuto: It's really not that hard to do. Just follow these steps and see what happens. It's not always successful, so be patient with them. It may take several attempts,http://www.wikihow.com/Breed-Betta-FishGood luck...Show more

Cherry Stampka: Conditioning betta fish takes 2 weeks or so, and the purpose is to strengthen the fish to its prime for breeding. The best way to condition bettas is raising their water temperature to 82 degrees, feeding them high quality foods such as bloodworms, daphnia, beefheart, brine shrimp, and every now and then a cooked, shelled pea. Keep their tank extra clean, siphon out any waste / uneaten food every day and replace with clean water. Some people also float an Indian Almond leaf in the tank, which will turn the water a light hazel color. (These leaves help prevent illness in the tanks, reduce pH, aids in healing damaged fins / scales, and help to induce the desire to spawn.) You will see their colors become more vibr! ant, their activity peaked, and the females will be swollen with eggs. The males will often begin constructing a bubblenest, even without a female in sight. The spawning process is very vigirous for bettas, so it is your best bet at a successful and healthy spawn....Show more
