Tommy Durrenberger: an quite grotesque holiday... the ten the two west and east is composed of poor rush hour site visitors... it must be as undesirable as an hour, yet will possibly ordinary someplace between 30 and 40 5 minutes.
Palmira Lochridge: it's about 100 miles from santa monica. traffic is heavy 'til you get north to valencia, then you have to climb the mountains at the foot of castaic. from ventura you have that 4 lane highway with a lot of stop lights and it seems to take forever. all things being equal i'd opt for santa monica, if you can afford it....Show more
Ronnie Panas: It's a horrible, mind-numbing, soul-destroying commute from either SM or Ventura to Bakersfield even on a good day. There's no way to get around it; no shortcuts, no hot tips. It'll suck your brain dry and kill your car, too.Real estate in SM and Ventura is very expensive, too, especially SM.If it were I and it was only 1-3 months out of the year, I'd bite the bullet and liv! e as close to work as possible and save a whole lot of money and wear and tear on my psyche and my car (not to mention save a lot of time not commuting) and visit the ocean whenever you can. And I say that as a resident of SM having driven to and from Bakersfield from time to time thru the years. Personally, I'd hate that commute worse than I'd hate having to live in Bakersfield from 1-3 months out of the year.Hope this helps....Show more
Dick Baumgarten: It is a horrible commute. For that 1-3 months of the year just rent a room in Bakersfield and commute back to civilization for weekends.
