Hobert Dula: they cancel your insurance, and then you will still have to pay what you owe them.. if you don't they will pass it on to a debt collection agency! and no your liecence wont get what ever that other bloke said!
Betsey Copp: I assume it varies by state, but in most places I've ever lived, the DMV gets notified, and they cancel your registration, and the police get a notification that you're driving illegally, and eventually when you get caught it's a MAJOR moving violation. They could even impound your car. And that's not even counting the trouble you'll be in if you happen to get into an accident while you're driving illegally. Just pay the bill....Show more
Lou Ravelo: Pay it
Dedra Furguson: Well, your insurance gets cancelled. Most states, that automatically suspends your registration (tags) on the car. Obviously, if you have an accident with no insurance, or even just get stopped, your car can get impounded. Of course, you also have to pay! for everyone's damages yourself - no help. If there's a loan on the car, the lender will put much MORE expensive coverage on your loan, that only pays THEM, and if you don't pay for it, they reposess your car.Lastly, driving without insurance is a surchargable offense in most states, and if you annoy the cop, he can arrest you....Show more

Nicolas Cooley: If you own a vehicle, it is important to keep up to date with your car insurance coverage. Having the proper car insurance policy not only helps protect you and your car in case of an accident or theft, but it is also a requirement in many states. Unfortunately, many people are dropping their car insurance coverage to a bare minimum or not paying their car insurance premiums â" which can be a very bad decision. If you own a car and do not have car insurance, or stop paying your car insurance premium all together, you could face harsh penalties from the state if caught. These penalties vary by location. Examples of these punishments include fines or complete loss of your driving privileges. If you are financing a car and there is a lien holder involved, the car insurance company you failed to pay will us! ually notify them of your failure to keep an active car insurance policy. The lien holder, such as the finance company or bank, will likely then force a car insurance policy on you to cover their asset â" your car.Keep in mind that most states require you to register your car once a year. In order to register your car, you must have a current car insurance policy. If you do not, you will not be able to register your car and your tag will not be able to be renewed. If you drive your car without car insurance and an expired tag, you could face even more trouble if you are pulled over by law enforcement. Even if you do not drive your car and leave it parked somewhere, law enforcement and most city code enforcement officers will notice it and write you a ticket for the expired tag. You should also keep in mind that driving your car without proper car insurance coverage is taking a risk. If you get involved in a car accident whether you were at fault or the other driver was, yo! u could face the possibility of even more consequences. If you have stop! ped paying your car insurance premium because you could not afford it, the best option would be to shop around your rates and see if you can get something a little more affordable. If money is tight, you may be able to limit your coverage, saving you from eliminating it all together. The important thing to do is to make sure you carry at least what law in your state requires. Driving around without car insurance is not a good way to get around. Doing so is just an accident waiting to happen....Show more
