Vita Moodie: I agree with wizjp. Visit a local credit union, sit down with a loan officer and explain your situation. I just wanted to add that with expensive repairs like that you may want a second opinion. I have had to replace a couple of transmissions and both ran just a little under 2k. Is the car going to be worth more than you will have in it after the repair? If not, sell your car as is and get another one.
